Born in the Burgundy region of the Morvan, Philippe Tarteret created the first family sawmill in Estissac, near Troyes in the Champagne.
Philippe's son, Nicolas, and his wife, Carole, created the company NT BOIS in Aix-en-Othe (near Troyes) specializing in the manufacture of french oak stave.
Carole and Nicolas Tarteret created the TONNELLERIE DE MERCUREY in Burgundy.
The story continues… A new generation joins the company. Louis Tarteret, son of Carole and Nicolas, begins research and development on toasted oenological wood products.
Louis launches PurOak, the oenological wood brand of the TONNELLERIE DE MERCUREY.

The ideal geographical position of our mill gices us convenient access to all of the premium oak terroirs availale inf France. This is a key factor in the consistency an quality of our oenological oak products.

Total traceability

PurOak guarantees a perfect traceability of its oak, from the forest of its birth to the final packaged product. Our products are traced throughout the transformation process: aging of oak staves in our wood yard, manufacturing, toasting and packaging. Each production lot is a blend of three different forest origins. Thanks to these processes, PurOak can gurarantee consistent quality of its oenological oak products.

Oak aged in the yard for 24 to 36 months

PurOak guarantees a minimum seasoning of its wood of at least 24 months and up to 36 months. Only such a long ageing period enables a slow dehydration of the oak. Therefore, the green, humus, fresh wood and bitterness flavors give way to the sweetness and complexity specific to successful aging.
